Summer Showers…be prepared

Q. While traveling to work this morning, I encountered a tremendous downpour; the rain was so hard that visibility was very limited and the car felt like I had no control. Up until the rain started, I was running along at about 65 mph with the cruise control on.

Other than the obvious, which is slowing the vehicle down in the rain, what other things can I be do to stay safe when hitting these heavy downpours?

Thank you,

Nancy K.

A. Nancy… we appreciate your question this month.

When we encounter a heavy rain or those summer down-pours, the best advice is always to slow down, just as you have indicated.

Along with slowing down, we suggest that you always know the condition of your tires. Although often over-looked, tread depth, tread wear and tire pressure all play a major role in your ability to successfully control your vehicle when driving. And when faced with a heavy rain, the condition of the tires becomes even more important for vehicle control.

Check your tires today… and be ready for the next summer shower.
