For years, health professionals have been telling us that walking is a great way to exercise and stay healthy. But lately new information has become available which shows walking also presents a serious health risk for more and more people! Can you figure out what we are referring to?

Well, you probably have already observed pedestrians totally preoccupied in their cellphone conversations or wearing earbuds enjoying their music. Unfortunately, these seemingly harmless activities are creating serious problems for many people. Slips, falls, crashing into other pedestrians, failing to check for traffic when crossing roadways are becoming commonplace as we unintentionally allow our “situational awareness” to become undermined. This is a condition not unlike another dangerous phenomenon you’ve already heard about or personally experienced – distracted driving.

This “One Second Advantage™” Safety Tip will provide you with simple techniques to maintain situational safety awareness to make your next walk both enjoyable and safe.
